Lebryk If you (or your) Lego Maniac is also a Star Wars fan, well there is no question; this is the Advent calendar they must have. If you are trying to save a little money, and want something just a little more Christmas, you might try the City Advent calendar (LEGO LEGO® City Advent Calendar 7553).
This is the special Lego Advent calendar. Each year Lego releases a standard Advent calendar; recently it has been part of the City series of kits. Typically, that calendar is in great supply. The second calendar is usually done in more limited quantities, and I believe this Star Wars calendar is just that kit. If this is a popular set and it sells out, the vulture resellers will arrive and the price will go way up - MSRP is $40.
There isn't much very Christmas about this set. It is essentially 24 different little Star Wars figures or vehicles. The most Christmas in here is a Yoda dressed up like Santa (good have you been?). On the other hand, the play and repeat play value of this set is fantastic. All those little figures can fight and make all kinds of really cool noises (you know the kind from your mouth, bzzzzzz, pew pew, bam - there are no electronics that make noise).
The box is the same size as previous years. The cardboard is not very rugged; it's pretty standard Lego box issue. I've posted some pictures of the box and tray. It's possible some of the doors will get torn when opening them. I imagine if somebody was really careful, they could put the toys back and save it for next year. But then they'd miss out on a year of playing with the toys.
Every Lego Maniac will love this calendar. Even though my boys are much older now, we've enjoyed these sets for the past bunch of years. Heck, Dad gets a big kick out of the daily opening and building.

Recent editions include mini figures and a few accessories or tools/weapons as a mini-set for one day, it is still fun. My kids especially love the clever modeling using just a few bricks.
Lego in the last few years had released 2 types of advent calendars every year, one is the city and another of a different theme (castle-2008, pirates-2009, kingdoms-2010). This is the first year of Star Wars Advent Calendar and there will probably not be another Star Wars one for another 3-4 years. I'm getting a few sets (at the retail price of $39.99) for my own family and to give away as we have quite a few mini figures fans among our families and friends. This is a good gift because it is not constrained to December or 2011. With my first child, we opened our advent calendar in the middle of summer when he was 3 years old, when he was learning to count and learning delayed gratification. We counted the pieces of Lego every day and the number of "windows" we had opened. And he remembered well that "one window a day" meant exactly that and stopped whining to open all the windows after the first 3 days.
Overall, a good set and highly recommended. Anything Star Wars is marked up so, yes SW Advent is $5 more expensive than the City version. Also SW Advent has 30+ more pieces than the City one.

By chris carlton At first I thought this might be the second most worthless gadget ever invented (the first being the electric can opener), but after using it for light tilling and weeding in my little backyard garden, I love it. It was free because I picked it up from someone's curbside trash pile, so a great value. It doesn't till deeply or do well in compacted soil, but if you have a small garden with good loose soil, its a great time saver for weeding and aerating the top three inches or so. It yanks tough grasses and weeds out by the roots and gives them a good thrashing, and does a good job of breaking up clods after turning by shovel.

Not a big deal to do by hand but I'm a gadget guy and when I saw this I was intrigued. I already have a few B&D cordless items w/ 18v batteries so I got the battery-less version of this tool. I got it a few days later and tried it the day I got it, it had rained night before and I used it at around 6pm, so I would say 12-15 hours after it rained about 1 inch of rain.
I live in Queens, NYC. Soil is thick but not clayish. Soil could use some perlite and peat moss but it grows good flowers each year, will get around to the perlite/peatmoss one of these days.
On a full battery, this tool seemed to be straining to work, it felt like a toy motor was running this thing, even though it has some heft to the base where the motor is.
It had a VERY hard time working my soil and I would say it took me twice as long to work soil with this tool as it did to do it by hand with a hand tool cultivator (ones with blades crossing each other, forget the brand).
If I where to do over again, I would not have bought this. Maybe if the tool was more powerful it would be good, maybe even a corded version? But for now it will rest in back of garage with my other unused gadgets.
Why don't I return it, I have no time to find a box to fit this in, old one was set out in trash the day I got it.
I may sell it at a yard sale this year.

However, there is a little time when you "turn into" Hannah that you don't really have much to do. She doesn't seem to mind though. She has played the game almost everyday for a week. So to keep her attention it must be pretty fun!
